Here at Boy’s Almanac we have been keen on the kids building bird houses. As it turns out Seth and his friend A have been busy building things sans moms. I don’t know what they are building with that pumpkin, but they are hard at it. It is important for young boys to spend time practicing with materials and imagining process and results. This prepares them for the age when they really can build something like a bird house. Perhaps this pumpkin will suffice. I have heard of a mouse living in a pumpkin, but we will have to see about birds.
Thanks for the photos Mommy Martina!

and follow the adventure:
well heck yeah a pumpkin will suffice! another great reason to grow the gourd family!
i love it. i love the pure whimsy of pumpkin carpenttry. and i love that they are wearing their safety goggles…just in case things go awry and pumpkin bits start shooting everywhere.
very funny. I do agree 100% Boys and girls need to use their hands more in all sorts of “building”!! I am from a family of builders.(5 generations!) I grew up on job sites and construction pencils (the flat kind, that don’t roll). I just said that to my husband the other day, seems more and more kids are not experiencing the craft and ability to work with their hands and mind. Love it!!!!
That is so stinkin’ adorable!
I’m nipping out to stock up on seeds, the ornamental gourd is now on the list!
Oh, my boys LOVE pumpkin construction. Hand crank drills are super fun too…CUTE photo.
