Our fish observations have been few and far between this spring. Mostly we lack the patience to sit quietly at the bank of a pond. The proverbial “we” in this instance is 4, so polarized glasses are cool, but the waiting quietly part, he’s not so good at. Our loosing streak broke today thanks to an insider tip. A Boy’s Almanac fan told us about a little bit of water where we could see fish and lots of em’!
Seth was eager and willing to scramble down the bank of this local creek. He tiptoed and whispered so as not to scare the fish. It would not have made a difference if he was indeed quiet because these little guys had no where to go. The creek trickles in and out of this sunny patch where hundreds of different size minnows live. It was magical to watch them swim about in schools, and snatch the occasional insect from the surface. If you know of a place to watch fish do it with the kids, it’s fascinating!

and follow the adventure:
let’s make minnow buckets!
He He I’m sure Sethy would love to bang lots of holes into a bucket! We are going to see more minnows at Doris lake on our camping trip…a bucket might come in handy.
